Let our expert team at Indy Renovation walk you through the steps. Your bathroom will be practically perfect in no time!

Upgrade to a Double Sink Vanity

Plumbing

After you remove your old, single sink vanity, you’ll need to cut into the wall to update your plumbing. You can choose to install your plumbing directly into the new vanity but, for a cleaner look, we recommend keeping it all hidden in the wall. Next, you will need to connect both the water supply and the drain pipes, and then assemble and install the new sink. An experienced DIYer should be able to handle this project. However, it’s always a good idea to consult with a professional plumber to be sure you don’t run into problems later.

Lighting

The lighting above your single sink was likely designed to shine directly over it. Because you now have two sinks, you’ll need to rethink your fixtures. Consider installing track lighting that shines across both sinks, or individual ceiling mount lights for a more elegant look.

Install the New Vanity

Once the more difficult tasks of plumping and electrical are taken care of, the fun can begin! You’ll need to make sure the “footprint” of the old vanity isn’t visible with the new vanity in place. If so, this may require a bit of drywalling, painting, or tile work, depending on how your new vanity compares in size. However, once all that is taken care of, you can simply secure your vanity in place and install your new faucets.
