5 Questions to Ask Your Bathroom Remodeler

When hiring a contractor to do your bathroom remodel, it is very important to do your research. At Indy Renovation, we recommend asking these 5 questions of contractors while you are in the process of getting estimates.

1. Can you give me a timeline?

Remodeling always comes with a certain amount of unknowns. Issues almost always arise, making it difficult to stick with the schedule. However, the contractor should give you a good idea of a start and completion date. If they cannot even provide an estimated time schedule, you should proceed with caution. 

2. Do you subcontract any of the work?

It isn’t uncommon for certain parts of the job, such as electrical or plumbing, to be subcontracted out to a third party. The bathroom remodeler needs to be upfront about subcontracted work and use licensed professionals. At Indy Renovation, we do all of our own plumbing so you can be confident that the work is highest quality.  

3. What type of materials do you use?

Some contractors may substitute lower quality materials in order to cut costs. Make sure that you are aware of all materials the contractor plans to use and approve any changes made to the original estimate. Too many low-quality substitutions could cost you in the long run. 

4. May I see examples of your past work?

Bathroom remodelers should be more than willing to provide photos and details of their past work to show what they are capable of the level of quality you expect.
