3 Signs You Need a New Toilet

Are the toilets in your Indianapolis home looking a little worse for wear? Most homeowners don’t give much thought to their toilets as long as they get the job done. However, an outdated toilet could be costing you money, is at risk for complete failure, and might be an eyesore in an otherwise beautiful bathroom. Check out these three signs your toilet needs replaced brought to you by your friends at Indy Renovation.

1. Damaged Bowl or Tank

Any visible signs of damage to your toilet bowl or tank is a pretty good sign you need to replace it. Even small cracks or scratches could threaten your toilet’s ability to hold water. Additionally, if your toilet has broken components such as a flush handle or interior mechanisms, it can sometimes be more cost-effective to replace the whole unit.

2. Outdated

While there are some features in an older house that add character, your toilet isn’t one of them. A very old toilet could be costing you money with higher water bills as toilets manufactured before 1980 can use up to seven gallons of water with each flush! Modern toilets use no more than 1.6 gallons per flush, so it’s easy to see the savings. Do yourself and your water bill a favor, and take advantage of new technology!

3. Leaks

At Indy Renovation, we take leaks very seriously as they can quickly go from a small problem to a very large one. A constant toilet leak is usually enough reason to purchase a new toilet. This is especially true if you’ve attempted to repair it and it continues to leak. Ignoring a toilet leak can quickly lead to water damage to the flooring or subfloor. Trust us, it’s cheaper and easier to just replace the toilet than to risk water damage.

If it’s time to replace your toilet, you don’t have to choose between a bathroom remodeler and a plumber, find a company that does both! At Indy Renovation, our team of remodelers works side-by-side with our team of plumbers to get any job done right the first time.
